As I enter my second year as head coach of the Costa Mesa Mustangs, I am excited for the upcoming season and the direction of the program. For the past ten years, I have had the honor of teaching History at Costa Mesa High School. Now, as head coach of the football team, I am privileged to extend my impact beyond the classroom, shaping the lives of these young athletes on and off the field. School pride runs deep within me, as I understand its profound influence on fostering a sense of belonging and unity. I believe that when our community rallies around the Mustangs, it gives a sense of belonging to our student-athletes.
In my coaching philosophy, I am committed to developing the entire player. While winning games is important, my focus extends beyond the X's and O's. I believe in nurturing the academic success, personal well-being, and long-term goals of each student-athlete. It is my duty to guide them in finding a balance between their athletic goals, academic commitments, and personal lives.
None of this would have been possible without the support of my family. To my wife Jackie, your love and support does not go unnoticed. You are my biggest cheerleader. To my daughter Remi and son Shane, your presence at our games makes our success much sweeter.
As I enter this second year as head coach, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the season that lies ahead. Together with my coaching staff, I am committed to providing a positive environment. We will strive for excellence, not only in terms of football skills but also in developing the character and leadership qualities that will serve our athletes long after their playing days are over.
I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Mustangs and to be a part of this remarkable community. Together, we will continue to build upon our tradition of the football program and make a lasting impact on the lives of our players. Thank you, Jackie, Remi, and Shane, for your support and understanding.
Go Mustangs!
